Compare us to other brands
- Filter housing made from inexpensive, “off the shelf” plumbing parts and window screen.
- GAC or General Activated Carbon is an all purpose types of carbon and is the least effective carbon for adsorbing H2S. GAC is 1/2 the cost of Catalytic carbon.
- Some competitors claim GAC rejuvenates with the heat created by sunlight. And therefore lasts forever. This is partially true of all carbons However, if their carbon lasts forever why do they sell replacement carbon?
- Some competitors sell an optional commercial model for longer life using impregnated carbon.
- Why use standard carbon at all if you know it does not provide long life?
- Impregnated Carbon ( coated with a chemical KOH)
- KOH Impregnated carbon used to be the high end carbon for H2S removal but that was a long time ago. It also costs 1/3 the price of Catalytic carbons.
- KOH Impregnated carbon is chemically coated causing a disposal problem.
- KOH Impregnated Carbon has a lower flash point than other carbons. The chemical reaction that takes place between impregnated carbon and H2S can cause what is known as a bed fire. It is an old technology for a different time.
- Cloth nylon bag to retain the carbon.
- These retain moisture, and can promote carbon caking, shortening carbon bed life and increasing back pressure in your plumbing system.
- Nylon or steel window screening hold the carbon bags in the housing.
- H2S is highly acidic and over time deteriorates both the screen and the bags. This causes failed filters and worse yet, clogged vents from loose, caked carbon! Let's face it. Window /storm screens were never designed to be used in a plumbing system!
- Glue or electrical tape holding the filter together.
- UV light and moisture mixed with H2S breaks down the glue over time. This can lead to failed filter housings. And electrical tape? What can we say? It's just electrical tape!.
The WLV-4 comes standard with an inlet for 4 inch ABS or PVC vent pipes. A flush bushing is available through us or any plumbing supply or home improvement store to adapt it for use on 1.5” to 3” vents. The Wolverine ®Brand WLV-4 Vent Filter easily mounts on top of existing rooftop or yard based septic or sewer vents and installs in minutes with no tools required. This makes it the perfect Do-It Yourself solution for the homeowner or professional alike with the need to eliminate annoying septic vent odor. All you need to do is measure, order and install. That’s It! If your home or building contains multiple plumbing vents, you will need to purchase one Wolverine ®WLV-4 for each vent.
The Wolverine ®Brand Vent filter (Model WLV-4) Is a powerful septic vent Odor control filter designed to eliminate septic and sewer gas odors in residential, light industrial or commercial applications. The Wolverine ®WLV-4 is UPC (Uniform Plumbing Code) certified and IAPMO R&T Lab tested to ensure that you are purchasing the highest quality filter on the market. The all new Wolverine ®WLV-4 is the only vent filter on the market with injection molded ABS housing. The housing, having been designed from the ground up rather than modifying existing plumbing components, allows for optimum flow and maximum odor adsorption. The design of the new WLV-4 is based on our previous model, the Standard Wolverine, and shares many of the same proven attributes such as moisture wicking, cross flow design patent pending and the perforated disk carbon containment system. In addition, the new WLV-4 is equipped with an easy access drain and fill cap for quick carbon change outs and extended carbon chamber overhangs for a pleasant low profile look with added rain intrusion protection. The new Wolverine ®WLV-4,like the rest of our product line, is built by professionals for the professional! What's more, we back it all up with a 5 Year Warranty against defects in material and workmanship and a 120 Day Money back guarantee. Both are the longest in the industry.
The Wolverine ®Brand WLV-4 sewer and septic vent filter utilizes a specially formulated, Catalytic carbon called Sulfursorb that was specially developed for the removal of hydrogen sulfide, also known as H2S (the main source of sewer and septic gas odors), and other compounds from air streams. It is well suited for use on sewer and septic plumbing vents where these compounds are typically found. Sulfursorb (Add Hyper link to sulfursorb brochure) gives you the high loading rates of chemically treated, impregnated carbons without the thermal risks and disposal problems associated with these carbons. (Sulfursorb Catalytic Activated Carbon is non-hazardous according to the definition for “health hazard” and “physical hazard” provided in the OSHA Hazard Communication Law (29 CFR Part 1910).
While Sulfursorb catalytic carbon costs more than standard GAC or chemically impregnated carbons, the end result is that it has the adsorbing capabilities of activated carbon without the shorter life associated with chemically coated carbons. This translates into better septic and sewer odor removal with the added benefit of longer carbon bed life.
